Gandhimathi (30 August – 9 September ) was an Indian stage and film actress. She acted in over films.
Early life
Kanthimathi was born in Manamadurai in what was then the Ramanathapuram district of India. She started acting in dramas and entered films at the age of eleven.
Career
The role which got her noticed was the portrayal of Mayil's mother in 16 Vayathinile. Other important Tamil films in which she acted include Mann Vasanai, Muthu and Karagattakaran. She was awarded the Kalaimamani Award by the Government of Tamil Nadu for her contribution to Tamil cinema.
She acted as mother and grandmother almost to all actors and actresses like M.G.R, Rajinikanth, Kamalhassan, Vijaykanth, Sathyaraj, Prabhu, Vijay, Revathi, Radha, Ambika, Radhika, etc. Other actors or actresses cannot utter the non-lexical filler proverbs like "Chithada kalli viragu odaika ponalam kathala mullu kothoda kuthidichan" (When a lazy girl is forced to go for the work of cutting the firewood she may complain that aloe vera thorns poked her in a bunch) like she could.

Shabareesh remembers Neram which brought a "twist in life"
Remembering the film on the anniversary of its release, the actor-lyricist wrote on social media, “One of the biggest twist in my life happened this day 8 years to all my friends who supported and travelled with me so far. Thanks to my parents, Chettan and Edathyamma for supporting me. Thanks to you the audience for the support from the beginning itself. (sic)”
He also shared a message from actor-distributor-politician Udhayanidhi Stalin to the team from when the film was released, saying, “Collections and number of audience have increased since the first show. V positive reviews comin. (sic)”
Neram, featuring Nivin Paulyand Nazariya in the lead roles, was released in Malayalam and Tamil. Shabareesh had appeared in the Tamil film and had played the role of Nivin’s friend, done by Siju Wilson in Malayalam. Interestingly, Shabareesh had played the role of the protagonist opposite with Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist, when Neram was first made as a short film in Shabareesh had also written the lyrics for the hit song Pistah in the film.
Several members of the Neram team had come together for Alphonse’s next film Premam, which proved a superhit. The ‘coming of age’ romance featured Nivin, and had Shabareesh and Krishna Sankar playing his friends. Again, the songs written by Shabareesh, including Aluva Puzhayude, Malare and Scene Contra were romantic and youth anthems of the time.
