Biography

Roberto Flores, better known by his stage name Lil Rob, is a Chicano rapper and music producer. Roberto Flores was born in September , in San Diego, CA. He is the youngest of three children. Flores grew up in a Solana Beach, California neighborhood called La Colonia Eden Gardens and was affiliated as a gang rapper, but later let go his gang affiliation. He now considers himself simply a chicano rapper. Flores made his debut as Lil Rob in , selling as many as , units. He has since made many songs with artists such as Mr. Shadow, Mr. Sancho, OG Spanish Fly, and a song called "My Lowrider" which included artists Paul Wall, The Game & E Also "Bumper" with Pitbull and Julio Voltio. The written number Twelve Eighteen, which is tattooed on Lil Rob's arms, represents the numeric value of the letters L and R which, respectively, stand for Lil and Rob. The number was used by Lil Rob during his days as a graffiti tagger. In at the age of 18, Lil Rob's chin was shattered when he was shot on the jaw. Flores dropped out and quit his gang affiliation after witnessing some of the violence. Early life

Flores was born in San Diego, and raised in La Colonia de Eden Gardens, a Mexican American neighborhood in Solana Beach, California.

Career

In , he began performing under the name Lil Rob & the Brown Crowd, and recorded a single titled "Oh, What a Night in the ". Though it did not chart, it was later featured on his debut album Crazy Life, with the title shortened to "Oh, What a Night". In at the age of 18, his chin was shattered when he was shot in the jaw. He later denounced any gang affiliations. The numbers twelve and eighteen, which are tattooed on his forearms, represent the numeric value of the letters L and R, the initials of his stage name.

In , Lil Rob left Low Profile Records after a financial dispute, and signed to Upstairs Records. He found commercial success with the release Twelve Eighteen (Part I) in which the single "Summer Nights" received national airplay, a first in his career. "Summer Nights" peaked at #36 on the Billboard Hot and #13 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart. The follow-up single, "Bring Out the Freak in You", peaked at #85 on the Hot Charts, and at #20 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart. The exposure led to small roles in the Cuba Gooding, Jr. film Dirty and the Rob Schneider vehicle Big Stan, both of which were released straight to DVD in the US.

On June 29, , Lil Rob made his very first appearance overseas in Okinawa, Japan. (Part II) was released in and featured the single "Let Me Come Back" featuring Fingazz. In , Love & Hate was released, and in , he released a new song called "Don't Want to Fall in Love". In , his ninth album, R.I.P. (R
