Kylie Minogue Splits With Roc Nation
Kylie Minoguehas parted ways with Roc Nation after two years, Billboard can confirm.
The Australian pop star had joined Jay Z’s label and entertainment company after splitting amicably with her manager of 25 years, Terry Blamey, at the end of 2012. It was a period in her life when she “wanted to shake things up,” she explained in a statement supplied by a rep.
Minogue had been added to the “Management” section of Roc Nation’s site by February 2013, where she joined its roster alongside such artists as Rihanna, Solange, M.I.A., Shakiraand Timbaland. With the switch, many thought Kylie would turn her attention to making movies.

Kylie Minogue Taking a Break From Music, Splits With Manager
“I’ve had an amazing time with Roc Nation and it’s been fantastic to team up with them over the last two years,” Kylie says in the new note. “We got together at a period in my life when I wanted to shake things up. I loved collaborating with Roc on the ‘Kiss Me Once’ album, world tour and DVD and have made great friends in the process. I’m now looking forward to my upcoming summer gigs and embarking on new adventures. And I want to thank everyone at Roc Nation who have been on this incredible ride with me”.
Since coming on board with Roc Nation, Kylie has stayed firmly in the spotlight, as usual. She enjoyed a stint as a coach on the U.K. and Australian versions of The Voice, and released Kiss Me Once, her 12th studio album.
Kiss Me Once did solid business, but it wasn’t the sales juggernaut some observers had been anticipating. The album opened at No. 1 last year in Australia (through Mushroom/Warner Music Austral Managers tend to play major roles in the careers of their acts. In the case of bands like Led Zeppelin, Skyhooks, and INXS, their public image was more that of their respective managers than the band members themselves. Here are 12 examples where managers changed the careers of their clients. After the Number 11 chart success in America of the Listen Like Thieves album and the Top 5 breakthrough of the What You Need single (1985), Michael Hutchence and Andrew Farriss started working on a follow-up where each track had the potential to be a single. However, according to manager Chris Murphy, when he played the tapes of Kick to the Head of their US record label Atlantic, Doug Morris, he listened throughout, his eyes closed, feet on the table. Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter He told Murphy, “I’ll give you a million dollars to go and record another album. This is not happening, this is shit.” The heads of Mercury in Europe and Warner Music Australia had been equally unimpressed. “What the fuck are Andrew and Michael doing?” said the Mercury guy. Murphy refused the $1 million dollar offer. Instead, he held a secret meeting with Atlantic’s radio promo people and sold them Kick. They were impressed enough, and Murphy pulled together a sell-out tour of US colleges. Kick cracked the college charts, picking up other radio as well, and Atlantic was forced to schedule the album for an October 1987 release. With hits such as New Sensation, Never Tear Us Apart, Devil Inside and Need You Tonight, the album went on to shift six million copies stateside and most recently had 20 million worldwide. Murphy said later: “I risked every dollar they had and every dollar I had on that tour. If it failed, there would have been a mutiny. It would have been the end of everything, and I knew it.” TERRY BLAMEY MANAGEMENT LIMITED copy copied 04547037 copy copied Active - Proposal to Strike off copy copied Private Limited Company copy copied Friday, 27 September 2002 copy copied Actual First accounts made up to 30.04.2024 due by 31.01.2025 Last accounts made up to 30.04.2023 Actual Next statement date Friday, 27 September 2024 due by Thursday, 10 October 2024 Last statement dated Wednesday, 27 September 2023 93290 - Other amusement and recreation activities n.e.c. copy copied MANUFACTORY HOUSE, BELL LANE, HERTFORDSHIRE, HERTFORD, SG14 1BP copy copied12 Career Changing Masterstrokes By Rock Managers
