Kwesi Ahwoi (born 17 November ) is a former Minister for the Interior of Ghana. In , he became the first Ghanaianambassador to Comoros, he also doubles as the ambassador of Ghana in 4 other countries; Lesotho, Mauritius, Seychelles and Swaziland.

Early life and education

Kwesi Ahwoi attended Prempeh College at Kumasi where he obtained his GCE Ordinary Level in His sixth form education was at St. Augustine's College (Cape Coast) where he passed the GCE Advanced Level in His undergraduate education was at the University of Cape Coast where he obtained the Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Geography and Education. Between and , he studied for the Post Graduate Certificates in Budgeting and Financial Management and from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. During and , he studied for the Postgraduate Certificate in Planning and Resource Management at the University of Maryland, College Park, United States.

Career

Ahwoi has held various positions in government and business. He was the chief executive officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre[1] during the Rawlings era. Following the December presidential election, he was appointed Minister for Food and Agriculture by President John Atta Mills. In January , Ahwoi was appointed Minister for the Interior of Ghana by President John Dramani Mahama. He held that position until 16 July

He is currently a lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration as a Governance Professor. He acted as a special aide to Jerry John Rawlings between January and August His job was to negotiate with President Shehu Shagari of Nigeria to restore oil supply to Ghana. President Shehu Shagari had truncated oil supplies to Ghana in protest of the 4 June revolution.

Early life and education

He was born on Saturday 13 October at South Suntreso, Kumasi. He has eight siblings, among them is Kwasi Ahwoi and Ato Ahwoi. He has two brothers and five sisters. He is a Fante Sefwi and the fourth child of eight children. His mother died in January at the age of 97 but his father died when he was still a young boy.

He had his upbringing in Kumasi. He pursued his 'O level' at the Okuapeman School at Akropong Akuapem. He later continued to Opoku Ware School.
