Trying to predict what a particular nation will enter is a tall order because of the numerous factors that weight in, especially when dealing with countries with a large film industry. In other cases, however, there are usually just a couple standouts that meet the standards to be submitted. Whatever the case, even with the most obvious choices there could be surprises such as Indian choosing not to submitting "The Lunchbox" or Chile choosing another film over Silva's "The Maid."
While there is no sure-fie formula to predict what films will be competing for the Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award, by looking at festivals, release dates, national awards, previous submissions, and with a hefty dose of educated speculation, I've put together a list of 35 titles that, at this point, seem like excellent choices.
Update 08/28: Several countries have announced their official submissions: Croatia ("The High Sun"), Germany ("Labyrinth of Lies"), Guatemala ("Ixcanul"), Switzerland ("Iraqi Odyssey"), and Palestine ("The Wanted 18").

2015 GAWAD SINING AWARDS AT CCP
THE Gawad CCP Para sa Sining will award eleven individuals and two organizations for their outstanding achievements and contributions to Philippine arts and culture on September 17, 2015, 3:00pm at the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (Main Theater). The event is open to the public.
The Gawad CCP Para sa Sining is the highest award given by the CCP. The award will be conferred on Denisa Reyes for Dance; Fides Cuyugan Asensio for Music; Antonio Mabesa for Theater; Roberto Chabet for Visual Arts; Ricardo Lee for Literature; Nora Villamayor a.k.a. Nora Aunor for Film and Broadcast Arts; Paulo Alcazaren for Architecture; Ben Farrales for Design; Leoncio Deriada, Talaandig School of Living Traditions, Armida Siguion-Reyna, and Basilio Esteban Villaruz. The Missionary Society of St. Columban will receive the Tanging Parangal.
Denisa Reyes holds an impressive line of choreographic works that won critical recognition in the international dance scene. Her works focus on Philippine and Asian Contemporary dance and the possibilities of presenting current local issues through dance expressions.
Fides Cuyugan Asensio is an icon in the development of opera and musical theater in the Philippines. She has also realized her nurtured gifts to conceptualize and stage the art and craft of theater in the country. She continues to promote young classical singers through the Music Theater Foundation of the Philippines, the non-profit organization she has established.
Antonio Mabesa is a theater artist and mentor who has involved himself in nearly every field of theater arts. While he is known as one of the country’s premier directors, directing over 130 stage productions, he is also an actor who has worked with the top theater companies and film directors.
Roberto Chabet, the first curator of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, is credited with having introduced Shaleha Sarail hails from a seaweed-rich community in the southernmost province of the Philippines. She has had three miscarriages. Her youth and fecundity gone, she agonizes that she will never bear a child. And she knows that the ultimate desire of her husband Bangas-An is to be a father. So she resolves to find a second wife to bear her husband a child. For days on end, she and Bangas-An scour the islands in search of the right fertile woman. But instead of finding her, it is they who are found by Mersila. Shaleha too is beguiled by the girl’s charm, only to discover that part of the dowry is that Bangas-An will leave her as soon as Mersila gives birth to his son. The film examines the opposing natures of two women (Shaleha’s sterility vs. Mersila’s fertility) to reflect the prevailing local conditions: rich in natural beauty and resources but mired in economic and sociopolitical crises.
